My next experiment is the new Boss AC3 pedal - haven't been able to get my hands on one yet, but it can route the signal to an alternate pathway which I agree is critical to get "acoustic tone". I know a guy who swears by the Fishman Aura system hooked up to his Tele with a Powerbridge. One of the most savvy acoustic pickup guys I know tells me "think Parker Fly." But I think these semi hollow guitars may take it up a notch. I haven't heard the Fishman and I really want to hear what you think after you get it mounted. 3) the new National/Lace pickup I bought is a double stick mount so I tried it in the middle position - like I said on the acoustic forum, this pickup picks up the character of whatever it's on, so it sounded very archtop in this application - good, but not that different than the TV Jones' with the volume rolled back, so I didn't see a reason to wire up a second circuit. 2) We mounted an active I-beam behind the bridge and then tried it mounted on the mahogany center block - this sounded amazingly flatopish, but the gain was too low and the handling noise was intense so it had to come out. My guitar is really resonant (25 1/2" scale with 12's helps) and, I'm guessing just like you noticed with your 135, it begs the question "how acoustic can this thing sound." I've tried two approaches to date 1) the Pickup the World under the bridge film pickup- sounded very natural (in an archtop way) but didn't get along with the Bigsby. I didn't go for the splitable pickups but it could be a good thing wired up right (look at the prior thread on splitting - sounds interesting). I put TV Jones Powertrons in it - they are a cross between a Filtertron and a PAF and they really pull off both well - I can get a throaty neck pickup sound, all the way to Brian Setzer and some really good twang and a Johnny A kind of clean tone (listen to hos take on Wichita Lineman). I have an Epiphone Elitist Chet Atkins Country Gentleman (see and look at the Elitist series). Johnny, we are on exactly the same page here.
